as of tuesday, i have a home. i (along with mr. smith) am now an official resident of accord, new york. i’m an accordian (i love saying that). and i’m a homeowner. i’ll no longer dread the question “so, where do you live?” which has been so hard to answer for the past 11 months.

the pics above are from when we were merely looking at the house, which explains why i am dorkily placed in them. the furnishings are those of the previous owner. our style is more floor-to-ceiling cardboard boxes, newspaper, and bubble wrap, for the time being anyway… and i couldn’t be happier about it!

Oh the potential is just oozing from this little old house. I am particularly in love with the ceiling in the upstairs bedroom!

An old house full of potential is just what I needed to come out of lurkdom and comment. I found you through your book. I have made my first skirt pattern and my first skirt. I’ll try to post it on my blog sometime in the next couple of days. Thanks for such a useful and timely book!

  • Congratulations!
Moving out of NYC, getting some land & chickens has been an amazing experience for me. I hope you enjoy years of knowing your property — knowing which chairs the sun will hit at 3pm, and what your apples will taste like in the fall.

  • I am so pleased for you! I just heard your podcast with Jennifer and am sorry i didn’t get in on the drawing, because your book sounds fabulous. I’ll go look for it around town. I hope it becomes a textbook for those poor fashion students who have to deal with double darts and leg o’ mutton sleeves! I hope you come to Northern California sometime as I would love to take a class. I have been wanting to make a skirt that fits!

    Good luck!
