my recent block printing class at Wing & Clover* was a really fun group with some serious natural talent! believe it or not the red and dark blue circular prints above were both made with a carrot, which is one of [...] we had a blast making sun hats at lena’s on saturday! if you’d like to make one of your own, try my tutorial for a simple one-piece style. or, if you’re not a stitcher, you can always buy one in my shop! the second class i’m teaching in brooklyn this month is a two-hour patternmaking workshop at brooklyn general, in which you’ll draft a pattern for a sleeveless summer shift dress. here are the details: Patternmaking Workshop: Shift Dress Sunday, July 18 10am-12pm $50 In this 2-hour workshop you will learn to draft a pattern for a simple sleeveless shift [...] later this month i’ll be teaching two brand new workshops in brooklyn. the first is a hat-making workshop at lena’s studio in fort greene, in which you’ll make your own pattern for one of my signature *hodge podge* sunhats, then sew one up for yourself! it’ll be a nice introduction to patternmaking, as well as [...] summer is a perfect season to embroider; you can use some artistic stitchery to embellish or mend just about anything. this saturday (june 26) i will be teaching a 4-hour embroidery and applique workshop at my favorite local shop: wing & clover in rhinebeck. if you are a creative soul, you must visit this lovely [...] also this month i’ll be back at brooklyn general on sunday the 20th, from 10am-1pm with a brand new class: make your own sunhat! we’ll draft a quick pattern and then whip up these simple reversible hats right on the spot. after that i’ll be hoofing it over the Gowanus canal drawbridge to home ec for [...] as usual, later this month i’ll be heading down to brooklyn to teach a few classes. i’ll post the rest tomorrow, but here are the deets for the beginner sewing class i’m doing at lena’s in fort greene: JUNE BEGINNER SEWING WITH CAL PATCH if you want to learn sewing from the very beginning, this one-day workshop [...] next saturday, may 22, i’ll be teaching a new sewing class at lena corwin’s studio in brooklyn. we will be using the swingset tunic and skirt pattern from the painfully adorable oliver + s. i’ve been wanting to try one of their patterns for ages, but i don’t do a whole lot of sewing for [...] this saturday (may 1, woot!) i’m teaching a sock animal workshop at the splendid clay, wood & cotton in beacon, ny. the weather promises to be beautiful (the forecast says sunny and EIGHTY-FIVE DEGREES) so for you city-bound peeps, perhaps a spontaneous day-trip is in order? i hear there’s a travel-worthy dance performance at DIA [...] |
