teaching, near and far

(all photos in this post by Studio Scrivo)

i’ve updated my teaching page to reflect everything i’ve got scheduled (thus far) for 2016. there will likely be additions, especially on the local front, but for now that’s what i’ve got. hopefully i’m coming to a theatre near you!

makers gonna MAKE! (a gift guide)

oh gosh, it’s that time of year again! i’ve got one more craft fair left (this weekend! the Holiday Indie Mart in Narrowsburg, NY!) and THEN i can finally start thinking about my own gifting. it happens every year: i can’t think straight until about mid-December because the craft fair season inconveniently occurs simultaneously with […]

meet the urchin stripe cowl

it’s been quite a while since i released a new crochet pattern, but i’m pleased to share with you the Urchin Stripe Cowl. it’s a quick little number, perfect for the transition between summer and fall (in other words, NOW!); wear it with a cardi or hoodie to extend the season of your summer dresses […]

crochet for knitters!

crochet for knitters

hello! i am so happy to announce that i have a fun new workshop debuting today over on Creativebug. it’s called Crochet Techniques for Knitters, and it’s packed with simple and useful ways that a crochet hook can become a valued addition to your knitting toolkit (if it isn’t already)!

Drop Forge & Tool

the Hudson Valley area of New York, where i live,  is filled with makers, growers, and all sorts of creators. it can take a bit of hunting though to find them, as their studios, homes, shops and farms are spread out over this vast, largely rural area and tucked away on dirt roads or in […]

meet the Willettes

i first met my friends Linda and Stephen Willette about 5 years ago when we were booth neighbors at a fiber festival further upstate. they are the cutest and sweetest couple you’ve ever seen, and they make exquisitely hand-crafted wooden tools for fiber artists: crochet hooks, knitting needles, yarn bowls, looms, and a whole range […]

happy Labor Day makers! i’ve always loved September. as a kid, i looked forward to going back to school, and like most of us, that feeling of motivation and renewal has never left me. i feel even more inspired than usual to learn new skills! so, if you haven’t joined yet, now’s the perfect time […]

Let's hook up some rag rugs!

you guys! it’s SUMMER! today is July 1st (you probably know that) and since June was pure busy-ness for me, i’m beyond excited that starting today things can finally slow down a bit.

so, what are we gonna do all summer? have you been hooking rugs like mad? why? well, surely you’ve seen my new Crochet […]

collage crochet

as Summer whizzes by, while i try to savor these days to their fullest, i am also looking ahead and preparing for the workshops i’m teaching this Fall. one that i’m SO looking forward to is Collage Crochet at the Taproot Gathering in September. you all know that one of my […]

we have a winner!

…and the winner of a whole month of unlimited Creativebug workshops is: Cari! selected by the RGN, and who said “I’ve been meaning to make a granny square doll blanket for my daughter.”

i loved reading the responses to what you’d make with granny squares. here are a few of my favorites:

“I’ve long fantasized about making […]
