there are about a hundred reasons why i was thrilled that the magic of Google Alerts* led me to the delightfully anachronistic destination of Casey’s Elegant Musings. let’s see how many i can list: – Casey is adorable. and somehow simultaneously exists in the 1930′s and 2010. how does she do it? – she referenced my book [...] we had a blast making sun hats at lena’s on saturday! if you’d like to make one of your own, try my tutorial for a simple one-piece style. or, if you’re not a stitcher, you can always buy one in my shop! later this month i’ll be teaching two brand new workshops in brooklyn. the first is a hat-making workshop at lena’s studio in fort greene, in which you’ll make your own pattern for one of my signature *hodge podge* sunhats, then sew one up for yourself! it’ll be a nice introduction to patternmaking, as well as [...] also this month i’ll be back at brooklyn general on sunday the 20th, from 10am-1pm with a brand new class: make your own sunhat! we’ll draft a quick pattern and then whip up these simple reversible hats right on the spot. after that i’ll be hoofing it over the Gowanus canal drawbridge to home ec for [...] next saturday, may 22, i’ll be teaching a new sewing class at lena corwin’s studio in brooklyn. we will be using the swingset tunic and skirt pattern from the painfully adorable oliver + s. i’ve been wanting to try one of their patterns for ages, but i don’t do a whole lot of sewing for [...] last week i did a project i should be able to tell you about later this week… while i was in the city and at night i’ve been hooking on this sweater… and by day i’ve been stitching up new smock dresses! ***shop update may 1*** (she says nervously, hoping that posting it here will make it really [...] i try to remember to capture a group shot at the end of any project class i teach… more often than not i forget to bring my camera or just forget to snap the photo. here are some pics from the beginner sewing workshop last month at lena corwin’s studio. i only managed to get [...] next weekend i’ll be in brooklyn again to teach some classes… on saturday, 4/24 i’ll be at lena corwin’s studio for an all-day embroidery and applique workshop from 11-4, including a delicious lunch. the photo above is from our last embroidery class; i love those delicate stitches! and on sunday the 25th, i’m teaching two workshops which [...] i’ll be teaching a beginner sewing class in rhinebeck this weekend, at the lovely wing & clover. there are still spaces available! if you’ve been wanting to learn to sew, here’s your chance. by the end of the three class sessions, you’ll have made friends with your machine, and designed your own tote bag (like [...] here’s my monthly roundup of the classes i’ll be teaching in brooklyn later this month: saturday march 27, 11am-4pm: beginner sewing @ lena corwin’s studio if you want to learn sewing from the very beginning, this one-day workshop is perfect. we’ll learn the nuts and bolts, like threading your machine, good sewing practices, and how to sew [...] |
